a really short post. not what'd u expect for a 5 months per post blogger.

Ok. dug out some old photos. not very old actually. just put them here for fun.

Mok talking about conquering the world to me. He decides to start in Africa, take all the diamonds, sell them to raise money to conquer the world.at that instant, his expression reminds me of something he often uses on msn.

even conquerors and pianists get tired too.

speaking of pianists. which brings me to my main point. today, mok, yanqi and I (yup, only 3 from our class. MC went like "anyone else coming?") went to support mc in his practice for his upcoming exam. in addition to others. this is his audience minus the photographer. and videographers, if u call them that.

back to school

The idea that, come Monday, for the next 14 months or so I would be a student again is a strange one for a self-professed workaholic. The reality has not quite sunken in yet. And in a way, I am still trying to digest and understand the lessons from my past 2 years at work.

But as a precursor of this study break from work, J and I had a near-perfect day this Friday (I was on leave on what was officially my last day at work) of meetings together.

First up, we trudged up Mount Sophia to meet a group of interior designers, architects and design researchers who had recently come together to form a company held together by their Christian faith. J and I walked away from their office excited about the spatial possibility of illustration and graphic art. More than that, I was just happy to get to know design folk who can be so grounded in their ideals and trying to live out their faith in their work. We walked down the hill to have lunch with tym and daydream about having a studio of our own.

The rest of the afternoon was spent browsing through Casual Poet's stock of indie Chinese pop, magazines, notebooks and other little knick knacks. All that time we were there In that little 2nd-storey Chinatown shop, there were only 2 other people who walked in. Otherwise, it was an air-conditioned oasis, more Taipei than Singapore. We settled for iced tea and our sketchbooks in their cafe, not once tempted to disturb the quiet with chatter.



The only thing keeping it from being a perfect day was the occasional intrusion of thoughts about the work emails I would need to clear in the week ahead in-between attending the orientation programme for my study programme. But for a start, it is perfect enough.

Well we just got back from our annual trip to Destin FL and I am sooo tired. My eye has been twitching the entire day, I guess it must be from all of those day time cocktails that then turned into night time toddys and rich food, just to do it all over again the next day! I think I am never drinking again...well, ask me again on Friday.

The weather was so perfect, which was kind of ironic, considering everyone, including me thought we were totally screwed when hurricane Fay was on it's way. It actually made the weather so nice. It never got over 90 degrees the entire time we were there and there was always a cool breeze.

I felt like I really got a better experience this time, I discovered a new place called Baytowne Wharf, it like a replica of the french quarter but much cleaner I think. We had dinner there several nights and it is such a neat place to take kids. They have a piano bar echoing through the streets and live bands, as well as movies playing and shopping. so quaint.

It was great to spend time with the whole family, esp Joseph's grandmother who we do not see enough. She was so funny..she loves her margaritas and she drank them by the jug! haha, dont tell her I told you.
my nephew Jude just loved the beach, it was so much more fun this year for him...and we all loved to be around him for a week straight. I think i am going to get withdrawls! but its probably good b/c he gives me the baby bug!

well, basically it was a great trip with good food and family and here are all the pics

cant wait till the next vacay...this weekend is Labor day ..yeah!
