Haul: Collective - Origins, MAC, Clinique, Dior, Prejume

This entry is a collective haul post on the stuff that I got some time back. So, this is really a guide for me to keep track of the things that I buy....

First up is Origins - Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins, Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Serum. My friend knows that I chomp through this serum like a mean grinding machine. And so, whenever there is an offer on this serum, she would be the first to sms me. I got 2 x 30ml at SGD25.00 each!

Next up is the MAC 217 brush and this is my second 217. This brush is very soft and perfect for blending out the eyeshadows! SGD33.00 available at all MAC Counters across Singapore.

Next, the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips (SGD39.00). My sampler bottle ran out and I've decided to purchase the full sized bottle since this worked quite well to remove my eye makeup.

Next up, is the Dior - Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup (SGD70.00). I was looking for a loose powder and the BA recommend this loose powder to me since I'm using the Dior Skin Nude Foundation. The BA assured that it wouldn't be heavy since I recalled that one of the BA at Takashimaya told me that this is actually mineral powder foundation. However, I really think that using this powder on top of the Diorskin Nude foundation is a little overkill for me. In addition, the actual size is really puny and paltry, compared to other Dior Loose Powder that are bigger in size with about the same price.

Lastly, Prejume hair wax that my hairstylist brought back from Hong Kong for me (SGD29.00). I totally like this hair wax. It has a rice paste texture , styles but not oily at all!!

Review/ Skincare: Origins - My 3 Skin Saviours

These are my 3 heavenly unsung heroes to good skin.. And it's time to give due recognition... I don't care what others have to say about these 3 products but they are my saving grace.. Particularly the Charcoal Mask and Drink Up.

During the few days of the month, when my skin is acting up like there's no tomorrow, these 3 will come out to play.

The charcoal mask is a thick creamy consistency that helps to deep cleanse my pores. After washing off, my skin feels very much cleaner, my pores look so much smaller and my skin is so smooth to touch.

Then I would slather on the Drink Up Mask and feel  the hydration seep through my cleansed pores. This mask has a runny consistency and spreading it is so easy..

After all this, I would follow up with my normal skincare regime and then do spot treatment on my outbreaks by putting a layer of Origins Spot Remover and then topping up with the Out of Trouble Mask...

The Out of Trouble Mask is a white creamy consistency that reminded me of some chinese medication that I use for my skin.

This combination always works when it comes to battling that few days of hormonal fluctuations and mood swings... And yes, I'm an ardent Origins fanatic...

Review/ Skincare: Origins - Weil's Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Serum

Item Name: Origins - Plantidote-Mega-Mushroom Face Serum
Size: 50 ml / 100 ml
Retail Price: NA
Available at: Isetan & all good dept stores
* Picture source from Instyle Website*

I started using this product since it was launch in 2005. Many bottles later (I lost count), I think it's time to give due recognition.

Friends who have known me for a long time know that I suffered from chronic Sensitive skin. It can get so inflamed sometimes that it's scary to even look at.

It has improved alot over the years but I am still suffering from skin sensitivity.
It could have been this serum, my other skincare escapades or factors such as hormonal changes, ease of mind, change in working environment, ect.

Maybe it's a placebo, maybe it's psychological, who knows. But all that I want to say is that I truly believe that this serum is one of the major contributors to the improvement of my skin condition.

I usually apply this after my toner and before moisturizer. Sometimes, when I am lazy, I'll just apply a layer of this serum, feeling the serum working it's way down into my skin.

This was the first product that actually worked to curb my redness and inflamation. I still remember how happy I was first used it and saw how much the inflammation has subside over the night.

I was immediately won over and it has since became my basic and staple skincare. The price is kind of steep but comparable to similar products on the market. In fact, it is cheaper than the serums that my sister buys.

Review/ Skincare: Origins - Constant Comforter

This is one of the first few products I bought when I first started with Origins. I cant remember why and how I started with this brand but I've never looked back. I buy this by bulk cos one of my friend's cousin works in duty free and she gets huge discounts off Origins products.

I've never quite taken up with creamy products in a tub since I find them to be messy and doesn't spread very well with my sensitive and yet, dry face.

But this one was the exception. It was very spreadable, despite it's texture and whenever I have a serious attack, I would slather this on my areas of redness and when I wake up the next day, my skin would have calmed down. Not a miracle worker but at least it doesn't scare people on the streets.

It's my saving grace for now, until I find something else that works even better.

Review/ Skincare: Origins - Comforting Solution

I used to have good skin until puberty came and I have my first boil.. The rest was history and I've had senstitized skin since then.

This is my first Origins product since I first started in 2003. I'm already in the x bottle as of now. This product has a very gingerly, zesty smell which took awhile for me to get used to it and soon I fell in love with it.

Frankly speaking, I dont really feel that this product does anything for my skin except for the smell and the placebo effect it has on me.

Review/ Skincare: Origins - Modern Friction

Ok, got this after strong recommendation from Ling.

The lady at counter told me that this is good for sensitive skin too and taught me the method to using it.

So, being an arden fan of Origins products and since I need a scrub for my face, I bought it.

The smell of the product was refreshing. It was zesty and wasn't as bad smelling as the other Origins products.

The texture felt coarse on my palms as I scooped it out with a spatula, which made me kind of apprehensive.

But oh well, if can try something like Daily Microfoliant on my skin, I figured, I should be able to use this. At least, it wasn't sizzling due to reaction with water. Besides, I have already prepared myself for the worst.

So, I started to rub a small amount on my outer cheek whereby there was less irritation. To my surprise, it was not as harsh as I initially thought it would be.

The best part is, that small amount that I scooped out was enough for my whole face. Woah.. No wonder the price tag of SGD$75.00. One jar of that will last me a long long time.

The skin felt smoother and cleaner after the scrub and best part was, there was no irritation or inflammation after that.

This has been marked as the must buy product on my list already.

Review/ Skincare: Origins - Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Cream

Got this as a set with the 30ml serum at a real low price from a friend. Initially I only wanted the serum since it's my staple face care item. But since this was going cheap, I figured I might as well buy it together.

I didn't get the face cream from the retailer because it was really expensive compared to the serum. RRP @ $120 (If I don't remember wrongly) for 50ml.

I tried some this morning when I was going out. It had a smell as though it had gone bad. I was pretty alarmed at first but seeing that there was no discolouration, I decided that it was safe to use.

It took some time for me to get used to the smell of my current face cream -- Origins Face Comforter when I started to use it and so I thought I would give the Plantidote Face Cream a few more days.

Nothing special in my opinion. I think the serum is adequate for me. Will see how it goes and update this entry.

Btw, there's a promotion going on from 24th - 26th Nov @ Isetan Scotts (Level 2) whereby members get double chops for every $50 spent.

-----------------------------------------------------
Add On: Tried it for a few days and found it to be too rich for my skin. So, it landed up on my Mom's dressing table. Wahaha.. Ladies, take heed, this is really rich and unless you have very dry skin, pls dun attempt to try it.
