On April 10th 2011 we decided to check out the Tour de Farm put together by Slow Foods First Coast. Tour de Farm is open to anyone that wants to learn more about local farming and see how the crops are grown and meet the families growing them. 24 farms participated in the events providing tours, workshops and even being able to pick your own crops right from their fields. We decided to visit Black Hog Farms because my family is involved in the Farm to Door program, which is a CSA (community supported argriculture) program. The CSA program allows local residents to order locally grow organic crops and have the farmers deliver them to you door.

In addition to this as part of the Slow Foods First Coast local restaurant Chew provided food for the guest using Black Hog Farms organic crops and hormone free animals. Also there was Intuition Ale Work providing the drink. Intuition has partnered up with Black Hog and Chew in the past. Intuition also provides Black Hog with with the spent grain from the brewing process as feed for their chickens.
